The Social Foundations of Education
In this topic, I have learned about the general overview of educational sociology. We started with understanding what is the meaning of sociology, education, and an overview of some forces that influence in education and schools. Basically, sociology means the study of the development or social relations that related to individual and the functioning of human society. Meanwhile, education is the process of living through a continuous reconstruction of experiences. It is also the development of all those capacities in the individual which will enable him to control the environment and fulfill his possibilities. So, the sociology of education means a branch of discipline of sociology which studies the problems of relationship between society and education and the study of how public institutions and individual experiences affect education and its outcomes. Lastly, Dr. Majid have explained about the main societal influences on education which are social forces, economic forces, political forces and technological development in education. All of this influences gave a great impact on the students development in school.
